I made my first four Kiva loans today! - Saving the world is ongoing

On April 16, I decided it was time to share some of my personal successes and financial capabilities with people around the world who arent as lucky as I am. I certainly recognize both the luck of the station I was born into, the capabilities and hard work I have achieved myself, and the dedication to society and the planet the I have developed in my life and career.

Yesterday I made my first four Kiva loans, and wanted to tell you all about the process and the four women around the world I am lending to. I dont know how it will turn out yet, but I am extremely happy to have been able to contribute.

For those of you who dont know what Kiva is, Kiva is a 'kickstarter' type website for people from lower incomes families and regions, both in North America and around the world. People setup a business plan and a valuation of what they need, and then social lenders go through Kiva to lend $25 incriments to various people and causes. These are NOT donations. The people borrowing your money are required to pay it back, with interest, with the success of their venture.

The four people I lent money to:
Rosalie in the Philippines needed to buy additional livestock and vaccines
Louise in Liberia wants to be able to buy and sell more fish at her fish store
Gidget in the US is expanding her beauty salon
Gumercinda in Honduras wants to expand her grocery store

Each loan has a repayment schedule that varies from 11 - 26 months.

How did I choose the people I lent to? Easy.
I went through the website and selected certain sectors I wanted to support, such as agriculture, found the ones that are closest to full funding, and went through those profiles. Each person received $25 of my money, and I will see how things go!

Will update when I have more information!

Note: I should have captured more of the things I have been involved in, and the main one would have been Leading Change 2014! What a great event and really had an incredible time being involved. I will make sure to keep this site more up to date as I try to save the world!
